1. Doctor submits request for ERCP over
the web
- Doctor submits patients surname over the web
- along with the doctors provider number
- the doctors email address
- the doctors contact phone number

2. System sends email and SMS
- system send the referring doctor an email requesting all of the
relevant information regarding the patient.
- This email also has the mobile phone number of the Surgical
Fellow
- an SMS is immediately sent to the mobile phone of the Surgical
Fellow to alert him to the referral
- This SMS has the referring doctors mobile phone number to call if
the fellow is available at that time

3. If the request is urgent
- If the request is particulary urgent the referring doctor can
then ring the Surgical Fellow immediately

4. The case is booked
- the fellow triages the case and books the case, notifying the
referring doctor by phone and email
- the staff at the Day Procedures Dept. then confirm the
arrangements with the patient

5. The patient instructions
- the patient can then access the site to see information about
what an ERCP involves, when to fast, what medications will be important, where
to come to and when to present
- the patient information can be printed from the patient information instruction sheet
